Communications
The telecommunication and postal systems in Ghana has
in recent times improved noticeably. All most all-regional
capitals have modern and efficient mail, telephone, fax
and Internet services. Ghana Telecom is the main telephone
service provider. Public phones use prepaid cards that
come in different denominations to suit the customer’s
pocket. Available are 150, 100,50, and 25 units. There
is so much increase and competition in Internet service
providers, linking both individuals and organizations
to the Internet. On the increase is the sprouting of Internet
cafes all over the city providing e-mail and browsing
services to the public. Other regional capitals including
some second cycle institutions are not left out.
Most hotels in the country have business centers that
provide courier services and direct dial telephones
in their rooms.
Several cell phone operators coming up as a result
of private sector development: Buzz GSM, Kasapa, Space
phone and Ghana telecom’s one touch provide mobile
services across the country. The “snap”
cards enables customers to buy units in advance. Phone
rental services are also available in Accra.
